2015 Children’s Ministry Summer Intern Job Description Purpose: The purpose of the Intern Program with Brookwood Baptist Church Children’s Ministry is to offer the opportunity for individuals who feel called into Children’s Ministry to experience specific aspects of serving in a professional ministry position. Our hope is to provide hands-on experience within many different aspects of the Children’s Ministry. Supervision: 2015 Summer Intern will be supervised by the Minister to Children and their Families of Brookwood Baptist Church. Interns will participate in weekly team meetings with Children’s Ministry staff and in monthly general staff meetings with other church staff. Children’s Ministry Mission statement and Goals: The mission of the Children’s Ministry of Brookwood Baptist is to partner with families in building a Biblical foundation for spiritual development ultimately leading to a child’s profession of faith in Jesus and a lifelong relationship with Him. Our desire is to help each child: Know God through the meaningful study of Biblical truths and the pursuit of a personal relationship with Him. Grow in Faith by learning and applying God’s word to daily life. Show Jesus to their world by telling others of His love. Description of Duties: • Assist in classroom and curriculum set up and implementation for Children’s Ministry programming. • Teach on Sundays as needed during the summer • Assist in facilitating communication needs of the Children’s Ministry including mailings, telephone calls, emails, and visitor/prospect follow up. • Attend children’s ministry meetings and training events. • Assist in recruitment of volunteer support for children’s ministry. • Help in preparing for Vacation Bible School, including copying, putting together class folders, making signs, helping teachers when help is requested • Develop the schedule and activities for summer activities, including games, crafts, and water activities. Shop for food, snacks, and materials for crafts • Help in preparing for PassportKids Camp; serve as a chaperone and Bible Leader • Run errands as needed for the Children’s Ministry • Help plan fun summer activities for the kids (bowling parties, water day, etc.) • Any other duties as assigned by the Children’s Minister. Qualifications: • Strong & growing personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior • Love for children and desire to teach children about the love of Jesus • Ability to work well with others and promote a strong team atmosphere • Teachable Spirit with focus on reaching children & families outside the church for Christ • Fun-loving and energetic personality that enjoys spending time with kids Terms of Service & Compensation: • Children’s Ministry Internship is for 10 weeks in the summer beginning May 2015 through August 2015. • Internship hours will fluctuate from week to week based on activities with an average of approximately 15-25 hours per week (except VBS week and Camp week at which you will receive a stipend of $250 for the duration of camp). • Interns will be paid a pre-determined weekly stipend and will be based on education level and experience. • Interns must be at least 18 years of age and some college or seminary education is preferred. • Applicants must be able to commit to the entire internship from beginning to end.
