Worship/Youth Leader

Student Ministry and Worship Minister Oak Park Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL is seeking a growing, mature Christian to oversee BOTH the Student and Worship Ministries of the church. This is a combined position. Responsibilities related to Students (Grades K – 12): Coordinate and promote Bible study, discipleship, community involvement, student activities recreation, etc. Plan and direct activities, including children’s time during worship, mission trips, Wednesday night TeamKids/Awanas, weekly student disciple groups, VBS, children’s church, trunk or treat, and other student related events Coordinate the church's outreach to local students Enlist and train leadership in the student ministry Advise in the use of program materials, equipment, technology, supplies, and space by grades K-12 in all church programs Actively involved in leading students to Christ and growth in faith Equip parents to train and disciple their students Prepare and submit the Student Ministry annual budget to the Finance Committee Pray regularly with and for students Build relationships with students, parents and local students Responsibilities related to Worship: Assist the Pastor in planning worship services and be responsible for selection of the music for each service using traditional worship style Work with existing choirs and develop new members to lead the church family in worship through music Supervise the praise teams, instrumentalists, vocal groups, and soloists Develop a rehearsal schedule that works with all members of the worship teams Enlist, equip, and train leaders for service in other aspects of the Worship Ministry Be aware of conferences, weddings and funerals to be held in the church and assist as needed Provide access to the type of music needed by choir members; i.e. chord charts and musical scores for vocalists or instruments. Provide lyrics for audiovisual team members Usually available to for special holidays Supervise maintenance of and additions to music equipment, including printed materials, instruments, technology, audio/visual equipment/use and supplies Prepare and submit the Worship Ministry annual budget to the Finance Committee Other Duties as Assigned Qualifications for the Candidate A Bachelor's Degree and/or an advanced degree with a focus in Biblical Studies, student ministry, music, theology, ministry or similar field desired. This person should also be in agreement with Oak Park's doctrine, mission, and values as presented. This person would also be someone with experience working with students in a church setting and someone who could easily build relationships with youth, parents, and other adults. This person would be someone with experience in worship and praise team leadership and a passionate conviction to see people connect to God through worship. Candidate should not only have an understanding of music, but also be able to read music well. Being capable of playing a musical instrument would be a plus. The candidate must hold a high view of the Bible (inerrant Word of God), adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message, be self-motivated, have good communication and organizational skills, be responsible, and enjoy building teams. This person will be a team player who understands the value of working together with other church staff members to carry out the building of the Kingdom of God. This person must also enjoy wearing various hats and be committed to building teams that equip and unleash God's people to do ministry.
