Keeping children safe in digital world topic of March seminars in Birmingham

In the current digital landscape in which we live, we have limitless information at our fingertips — good and bad. And for parents, guardians and ministry leaders, the realm of potentially harmful and unhealthy information that children can access is staggering.

But there are tools and strategies that can help parents and guardians navigate the rocky digital terrain, which is why Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills, is hosting a three-part MySecureFamily seminar March 5, 12 and 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each night.

MySecureFamily is an initiative of Undone Redone — a ministry that encourages men and women to experience God’s grace in their brokenness — that seeks to provide an interactive portal to help equip parents to protect children in the digital age, according to mysecurefamily.com. In the seminar, parents will learn about the latest apps, harmful cartoons, social media sites and video games and will be given practical tools along with steps to create a safe environment for children in the home.

Even if you miss one or two of the three seminars, Shades Mountain Baptist leaders still encourage participants to come, as each seminar will cover different topics. For foster parents, a summary letter is available to receive CEUs for the event.
