Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Rick Bragg will receive the 2018 Joanne Sloan National Award for the Encouragement of Writing, an independent award given each year during the workshop.

The conference will be held June 8–9 at First Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa. The schedule includes 14 sessions, a Friday evening dinner and lunch on Saturday. Individual consulting sessions with literary agents are available.

The pre-registration deadline for this year’s conference is May 26. Attendance is limited to the first 200 people to register. For more information, visit scwconference.com or email scwc.writers@gmail.com. (TAB)
