Fourteen-year-old Chris Henley spends his Wednesday afternoons differently than most young teens. He can be found at local nursing homes around Talladega, playing the piano for the residents, visiting with them, helping them put on holiday programs and even leading Bible study.
Q: What made you decide to start visiting nursing homes?
A: A friend had wanted me to play at a retirement home. I had gone already to an assisted-living home, and they wanted me to try a different place owned by the same people. So I started playing at them and putting on programs.
Q: What do you like about visiting nursing homes?
A: One lady, in particular, has no family, and she always likes to talk to me. When I get finished playing, we sit down and talk some.
Q: What difference has being a Christian made in your life?
A: I am reading the Book of Proverbs to learn how I can live my life more peacefully.
Q: When did you become a Christian?
A: When I was in fourth grade, I became a Christian.
