Stephen Hall, minister to students at NorthPark Baptist Church, Trussville, traveled with 14 people 250 miles south of the U.S. border to Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, May 28–June 2. They partnered with Mega Mission, a ministry dedicated to supporting the spiritual and physical needs of the people in Ciudad Victoria.
The team from the Birmingham Baptist Association church traveled 40 minutes outside the city every day to the small town of Soto La Marina to help build the 104th church sponsored by Mega Mission.
Team members attended a ground-breaking service and were able to share in the first worship service at the new church, which was named Rey de Reyes (King of Kings).
This was the their second mission to Ciudad Victoria. They were able to revisit a house they built for a local pastor two years earlier and see the progress that had been made in the area.
It was Hall’s first time to physically build a church. “It was great to put hard work and sweat into the project,” he said.
Hall noted the church will serve as a community center and gathering place. “It is neat thinking about the blessing to a community in poverty,” he said.
