Rheta Nell Thrasher Tcherneshoff, former missionary to Brazil, died Aug. 24. She was 75.

A native of Hillsboro, Tcherneshoff, along with husband Pete, served with the Foreign Mission Board (now International Mission Board) in Brazil from 1963 to 1977.

After returning from the missions field, she served alongside her husband at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, Decatur, where he served as pastor, and Friendship and Marshall Baptist associations, where he served as director of missions.

Tcherneshoff graduated from Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and attended classes at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, while her husband was a student.

At the time of her death, she was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Huntsville.

Tcherneshoff is survived by her husband of 56 years, four children and 10 grandchildren. (TAB)
