Selma’s Pisgah Church celebrates 175th anniversarycomment (0)

“Y’all come back” was what Pisgah Baptist Church, Selma, members, like Sandra Reed, told former members concerning the Cahaba Baptist Association church’s 175th anniversary. And they did come back — about 120 of them — to the Oct. 24 anniversary program and the pleasant surprise of the approximately 20 active members.
One former pastor spoke during the afternoon program, and three other former pastors sent letters that were read. Former members, including two women in a local nursing home, also shared special memories. Bill Wallace, director of missions for Cahaba Association, presented the church with a plaque on behalf of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission.
Following the program, those in attendance congregated underneath a tent on the lawn for a reception. “We had a wonderful time,” said Reed, who organized the day’s events. “We were so happy when we saw the pews full.” Harold Arnold is pastor.
