Guy, Kenneth Charles comment (0)

March 17, 2011

Kenneth Charles Guy, a former Alabama Baptist pastor, died Feb. 2. He was 72.

A Mississippi native, Guy graduated from William Carey College (now William Carey University) in Hattiesburg, Miss., with a bachelor of arts in 1960. He received his master of divinity in 1963 and master of religious education in 1990 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

For more than 40 years, Guy served as a pastor in Alabama — Summerville Baptist Church, Phenix City, and McIntosh Baptist Church — and Mississippi.

He volunteered as a chaplain for Hospice Ministries in McComb, Miss., visiting terminally ill patients in their homes every two weeks and praying with them and for them. After retiring from the pastorate in 2000, Guy became a full-time chaplain for Hospice Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children; and eight grandchildren. (TAB)
