Lenwood Hocutt, former Sipsey Association director of missions (DOM), died March 11. He was 83.

A native of Fayette County, Hocutt served as bivocational DOM from Jan. 1, 1963, until Oct. 24, 1986.

In addition to serving as DOM, Hocutt was a farmer and worked for the Fayette County Commission. At the time of his death, Hocutt was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Bankston, Sipsey Association.

He had served as a deacon there since July 1948.

Hocutt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lottie, two sons, three daughters, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
