Frank Sidney Wells, a former Baptist pastor and missionary, died June 4. He was 78.
Wells graduated from Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham in 1955 and earned his master of divinity fromSouthernBaptistTheologicalSeminaryin Louisville, Ky., in 1959.
During his years of ministry, he served as pastor of West End Baptist Church, Selma; First Baptist Church, Enterprise; Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas; Briarcliff Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga.; and First Baptist Church, Elba. Wells also served as interim pastor of 10 churches in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
In 1961, he and his wife, Jo Ann, were appointed as Southern Baptist missionaries to Indonesia, where he served as pastor of several churches and a seminary teacher.
Wells was a member of the administrative committee/executive board (now executive committee/state board of missions) of the Alabama Baptist State Convention, and for three years, he directed the Missionary Orientation Program of the Foreign (now International) Mission Board in Pine Mountain, Ga.
He was a member ofFirst,Enterprise.
Wells is survived by his wife, three daughters and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cyndi. (TAB)
