Davis, Jimmy W. comment (0)

Retired Alabama pastor Jimmy W. Davis died Oct. 25 after a long illness. He was 68.

A graduate of Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Davis was called into ministry about 40 years ago. He led his first church, South Highland Baptist Church, Russellville, in Franklin Baptist Association only five years after graduating high school.

After his first wife died, Davis did not lead another church for many years. In 1967, he remarried and in 1993, became pastor of New Castle Baptist Church, New Castle, near Gardendale in North Jefferson Baptist Association. From 1995 until 2003, David led Yarbrough Street Baptist Church, Montgomery, in Montgomery Baptist Association and then retired from the ministry due to illness.

Davis is survived by his wife, Linda, five children and nine grandchildren.
