Granade, Samuel Andrewcomment (0)

Retired Alabama Baptist pastor Samuel Andrew Granade died Jan. 19. He was 89.
A graduate of Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., Granade served as a chaplain during World War II. He also served several Alabama Baptist churches as pastor and was pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church in Conecuh Baptist Association for 25 years. 

In 1973, he established the office of church-minister relations (now the office of LeaderCare and church administration) at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. Granade was director of that office until his retirement in 1984. He also served for four years on the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Following retirement, Granade served as a guest speaker at various conferences and interim pastor of 15 Alabama Baptist churches. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery, at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rubilaw Ray Granade; one son; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. (TAB)
