Only three days after the one-year anniversary of the devastating tsunami, Japan was rocked by two major earthquakes. On March 14, a magnitude-6.8 quake hit Northern Hokkaido Island and a magnitude-6.1 earthquake hit south of Tokyo, according to the International Business Times.
Fortunately no tsunami warning was issued and no nuclear plants were harmed this time, according to Reuters.
It’s been barely a year since a magnitude-8.9 earthquake hit Japan’s northeastern coast and caused a 23-foot tsunami, which killed nearly 16,000 people and left more than 5 million homes without electricity and nearly 1.5 million with no access to water, sources say.
