Roger Williams, music director of Dutton Hill Baptist Church, Parrish, marks 30 years of music ministry at the Walker Baptist Association church.
Born into a musical family, Williams naturally picked up various musical elements throughout his life. He sang his first solo “At the Cross” at about 8 years old.
Williams answered the call to become the church’s music director in May of 1982 and has served tirelessly since that time, according to Pastor Carl Uptain.
The church recognized Williams and wife, Lynn, during the March 11 worship service for their 30 years of continuous service. Lynn Williams has served in several ministry capacities at Dutton Hill including children’s Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader.
The couple was presented a plaque citing the congregation’s appreciation for their years of service.
“I’m hoping that God will allow me to keep singing and playing the guitar,” Williams said. “He’s blessed me the whole way through. And it’s been lots of fun.”
