Why I recommend The Alabama Baptistcomment (0)

By Pastor Travis Coleman Jr.
I was a member of Harbor City Baptist Church, Melbourne, Fla., when God began to speak to my heart about full-time Christian service. It was also then that I took notice of The Florida Baptist Witness, the state paper for the Florida Baptist Convention. My mother received it as a ministry of my home church.
Reading that paper each week broadened my view and perspective of what God was doing in His larger Kingdom on earth. What I learned in Sunday School, Training Union, RAs and choir ministry seemed to come alive on a bigger stage. I realized how connected I was through my local church to the association, the state convention and Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). It was amazing to read about what Baptists did together.
For the past 34 years I have served two churches in our beloved state of Alabama. It has been my privilege to receive The Alabama Baptist all this time. This award-winning newspaper filled with testimonies of individuals and churches has many times inspired me to greater service or given me ideas to use in our church.
The reporting of the larger work of The Alabama Baptist in our churches, our associations, our institutions and our entities, as well as our SBC family, has reminded me time and time again of the importance of our connections.
That connection is not only experienced in our common faith in Jesus Christ, but it is seen as we partner in mission to win our world to Christ and fund that mission with our Cooperative Program dollars.
Thank you, The Alabama Baptist, for all you do to serve God’s people, His church and the greater Kingdom of believers. Thank you for faithfully reporting to us what Alabama Baptists do together.
