Mobile church brings ancient Jerusalem to life comment (0)
April 5, 2007
The children of Spring Hill Baptist Church, Mobile, in Mobile Baptist Association experienced the tastes, sounds, sights and smells of ancient Jerusalem March 14–18 through Marketplace Jerusalem a.d. This was the church’s fourth year to hold the event and its second to hold it in lieu of Vacation Bible School, said Russ Holmes, minister of education. He noted that the children were immersed in Jewish culture and the events leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection through dramas, crafts and activities.
The children also attended a synagogue school where they learned about aspects of the Jewish faith, such as participating in a Jewish seder with Pastor Terry Ellis.
Holmes said 243 children participated and about 250 adults were involved in various aspects of production. Ten children made decisions to follow Christ.
