Ozark music minister retires after 29 yearscomment (0)

William P. Hix Jr. will retire March 4 from Ozark Baptist Church in Dale Baptist Association after 29 years as minister of music.

A native of Huntsville, Hix has been involved in music ministry for 40 years and holds degrees from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

During college and seminary, he served several churches in Mississippi and Texas as part-time minister of music.

Upon graduation, Hix accepted the call to a full-time position at First Baptist Church, Rossville, Ga. He left there in 1978 to serve Ozark Baptist.

Hix and his wife, Janice, have two sons.
