Wondering what kind of snacks to take with you on your road trip? Consider the following advice from road trip Web sites:

1. Bring your own snacks and drinks. It is much cheaper to buy these from your local grocery store than from a convenience store en route.

2. Drink water rather than a lot of sodas to avoid caffeine and the side effects it may cause.

3. Limit high-sugar snacks in order to stay healthy and avoid sugar highs and lows.

4. Limit snacking in the car to avoid ruining mealtimes.

5. Raw vegetables such as carrot and celery sticks are easy to prepare beforehand and easy to eat in the car. Put peanut butter or cream cheese down the center of the celery for a tasty treat.

6. Sliced fruit stored in baggies or individual fruit servings from the store will travel well in the car.

7. Granola, whether homemade or purchased, offers a filling snack full of fiber.

8. Individual servings of nuts and dried fruit measured into individual bags or containers will help reduce spills.

9. Try mixing chocolate pieces with nuts, granola or other snacks to make a trail mix that’s healthy and satisfies that sweet tooth.

10. Take cookies that are made with oatmeal, fruit or nuts for a sweet snack that satisfies.
