Former Mud Creek Baptist Association director of missions J. Rod Milam died Aug. 18. He was 73.

Milam was a member of Industrial City Baptist Church, Hueytown, in Bessemer Baptist Association, where he served as minister of music and education for 18 years before going to work for Mud Creek Association.

He served the association for nine years before having to retire in February 2007 because of health reasons.

He continued to serve in ministry through music and preaching at Industrial City Baptist and other locations.

Milam is survived by wife Peggy, one son, three daughters, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. (TAB)
