Walsh wrapping up time as TAB assistant editor

For the past four years Maggie Walsh has often been the person behind the camera, behind the social media posts and behind the week-to-week nuts and bolts of getting The Alabama Baptist (TAB) produced and in your mailbox.

But at the end of June, Walsh, TAB’s assistant editor, is passing the torch and taking on a new challenge. She will become financial coordinator for Gooch Family Dental in Birmingham.

“Maggie has done exceptional work in her various roles for the past nearly four years,” said Jennifer Rash, TAB’s editor-elect. “I’ve come to depend on her in all that we do related to producing and sharing content through the weekly print edition as well as the other platforms branching out from the publication.

“It will be hard to let her go but I will always be among Maggie’s biggest fans,” Rash said.

“The Gooch Family team is going to fall in love with Maggie just like we did so I have no doubt she will soar.”

Walsh first came to TAB as a summer intern in 2012, then rejoined the staff as an office assistant in June 2014 before becoming part of the editorial team that October. She was promoted to assistant editor in 2017.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Troy University and previously worked for Camfel Productions, which provides student development and bully prevention programs for schools.

“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunities that Dr. Terry and Jennifer have given me through TAB to learn and grow, both personally and professionally,” Walsh said. “The Lord has graciously used the past four years to teach me so much about Himself and I will always be thankful for those who have poured into me and encouraged me during my time here.” (TAB)
