More than 700 middle and high school students from 17 churches representing 11 associations participated in the annual Youth Choir Festival held Sept. 25 at First Baptist Church, Montgomery.

According to Keith Hibbs, director of the office of worship leadership and church music for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM), it was the “largest gathering of student choir members in the state convention’s history.”

The time of worship featured four anthems from the combined choirs, one ensemble performance and a focus on youth choirs serving in missions. Students also led in Scripture reading and prayer.

The event was coordinated by Ed Cleveland, associate minister of music at First, Montgomery, and sponsored by SBOM.
