Alabama Baptist schools named among best in US

All three Alabama Bapist institutions of higher education were named among “America’s Best Christian Colleges” for 2017 by Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc. (IR&E).

The University of Mobile, Samford University in Birmingham and Judson College in Marion each received the distinction. The Alabama Baptist institutions are 3 of only 100 colleges and universities nationwide to earn the designation.

Requirements

IR&E selected “America’s Best Christian Colleges” from a pool of 458 Christian institutions of higher education.

The recognition is determined from results of the 26th Annual National College Survey conducted by IR&E between April 1 and July 31.

Survey results showed that for freshmen entering Christian colleges and universities in Fall 2015, the average high school grade point average (GPA) was 3.37, the average SAT score was 1081 and the average ACT score was 22.

To be considered for the list, an institution must be an accredited four-year school that offers bachelor’s degrees and full residential facilities and dining services. It must have had an entering freshman class in Fall 2015 with a high school GPA or SAT/ACT score at or above the national average for all freshmen entering Christian institutions of higher education.

The school also must be affiliated with a recognized Christian denomination or be an interdenominational institution that incorporates Christian principles into its curriculum or environment.

IR&E is an independent research and consulting organization in Rome, Georgia, that specializes in the recruiting and retention of students for institutions of higher education. (TAB)
