Augie Boto to retire from SBC Executive Committee

D. August “Augie” Boto has announced he will retire from the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee (EC) effective Sept. 30.

Boto, 68, is EC executive vice president and general counsel. Boto joined the EC as a member in 1995 and has served the organization in several capacities, including most recently as EC interim president and CEO from April 2018 until EC president and CEO Ronnie Floyd assumed office May 20.

Prior to joining the Executive Committee staff Boto served in county and state government in Texas and helped start the Texas Fellowship of Christian Prosecutors.

Boto said he plans a short sabbatical period but expects “the Lord will have other things for me to do with and for Southern Baptists, for they are ‘my crowd.’” (BP)
