Bullard To Present Samford Conference on “Becoming a FaithSoaring Church”

Noted church leadership coach and minister George Bullard will present a conference on “Becoming a FaithSoaring Church” at Samford University in Birmingham, on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bullard will draw upon his 35 years’ work with congregations of all sizes, locations and denominations. He has identified characteristics common to “faith soaring” churches that help them adapt and respond to the changing cultural and religious landscape in which churches live today.

“FaithSoaring churches are captivated by the synergy of vision, relationships, programs and management,” said Bullard. “We’ll look at several characteristics and examples from churches that have discovered this kind of synergy.”

Each registered attendee at the Samford conference will receive a copy of Bullard’s book, “FaithSoaring Churches.” To register, go to resource@samford.edu. The conference is scheduled for the Regions Room of Cooney Hall.

Samford’s Center for Congregational Resources (CCR) will sponsor the conference as this year’s James A. Auchmuty Lecture. Lunch will be provided.

Bullard is an author and ordained minister who has been an adjunct professor at four seminaries and lectured at others. He serves as president and strategic leadership coach for The Columbia Partnership Inc. of Columbia, South Carolina, which seeks to transform the capacity of the North American church to pursue and sustain vital Christ-centered ministry.

“We’re particularly pleased to host Dr. Bullard for the Auchmuty Lectureship this year,” said Michael K. Wilson, CCR director. “Given the breadth of knowledge and experience he’s gleaned from working with churches, we knew it would be helpful to present a conference rather than a brief lecture. We think George will offer practical insights and tools that could be of real benefit to congregational leaders.”

The James A. Auchmuty Lecture is sponsored annually at Samford by the CCR.  Named in honor of the pastor emeritus of Shades Crest Baptist Church, the lectureship brings to campus guest lecturers and presenters who speak on topics of interest to congregational leaders and students preparing for congregational ministry.
