Coptic Christians attacked in Egypt

The elder son of a Coptic Christian family is in critical condition after he, his mother and younger brother were stabbed by a Muslim assailant while sitting outside their house in Egypt’s Nassiriya village Nov. 17.

Residents in the predominantly Coptic community said the man, identified on Facebook as a Muslim, assaulted the family members with a dagger after arguing with them. According to media reports the attacker told his victims that Christians must not sit outside.

Security forces in Minya have reportedly arrested the suspect.

Egypt is a majority Muslim country and ranked 16th on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List of countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. (MS)
