Dorian spares Puerto Rico, US relief ready

Puerto Rico escaped a direct hit from Hurricane Dorian as the storm moved through the Caribbean, to the relief of those on the island still recovering from the devastating toll of Hurricane Maria in 2017.

Dorian’s impact in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands was more severe but not catastrophic.

Florida Baptist Disaster Relief moved to Level 2 response Aug. 29 ahead of the storm’s anticipated landfall in the state on Labor Day.

The North American Mission Board’s Send Relief agency has prepared for the Atlantic hurricane season by staging supplies in various locations in Puerto Rico, including 150,000 meals and emergency packs with chainsaws, propane powered cook stoves and generators. (NAMB)
