Inspired by a calling to unite Christians in sharing the light of Christ together, Salvation Army lieutenants Bryan and Tonya Farrington partnered with Reality and Truth Ministries to present a revival event, Light it Up!.
The citywide revival services held at Montgomery’s Riverwalk Amphitheater Aug. 24-28 included testimonies from local pastors and ministry leaders including Flatline Church pastor Dwayne Rembert, Pike Road Baptist Church pastor Teddye Gandy and others.
The event featured worship art dance performances by That’s My Child Praise Team, Bella Kash Praise Team and Flatline Church Hip Hop Praise; canvas art by Kevin King; spoken word from Cody McMillan; and praise and worship music by groups like Hilliard Chapel Choir, Greater Church Praise Team and local artist, Tanya Mayes.
Revival speakers Bryan and Tonya Farrington, Centerpoint Fellowship Church pastor John Schmidt, author and speaker John Ed Mathison and others brought messages of unity, renewal and hope.
Focused on following
“The event was designed to bring churches together in order to be revived and connect those that are unchurched,” said Reality and Truth Ministries president LaDonna Brendle. “Before the church can reach our city, state, nation, and world effectively for Jesus Christ, the church itself must become true followers of Jesus Christ, fully surrendered to His will and purposes. When Jesus Christ is above all else in our personal lives and church lives, other’s lives are forever changed.”
Revival planning began in 2019 and Tonya Farrington said when COVID-19 hit in March, organizers could not defer the calling they received to reach the lost and revive the church.
And while physical attendance was small and weather interfered on Aug. 27 and 28, Brendle said Light it Up! Facebook videos reached as many as 1,600 people in one night.
“We believe the Lord is doing a big thing in our world today; that it was no coincidence that He called us to this revival at this time of our lives. It’s our prayer that the church universal doesn’t miss what the Lord is doing during their safe at home season,” Brendle added.
