McWhorter shines as TAB’s 175th anniversary reporter

She woke up before the sun and hit the road, heading east for Birmingham. Carrie Brown McWhorter, who lives in Cleburne County, had to make it to the office of The Alabama Baptist (TAB) by 6:45 a.m. so she could hop on a bus with the rest of the TAB team.

Their destination? Marion. Their purpose? To celebrate 175 years as Alabama’s state Baptist paper.

McWhorter, an award-winning journalist who currently serves as special assignments editor for TAB, was the official 175th anniversary reporter who wrote the majority of the stories found in this issue. From the birthday party at Judson College in Marion to the symposium at Samford University in Birmingham, she has been there for it all, celebrating alongside the rest of the staff and working hard to inform, inspire and connect Alabama Baptists with their statewide communications channel.

“Carrie is one of those people who is tireless in her commitment to excellence and lifts those around her,” said editor-elect Jennifer Davis Rash.

“She brought that same caliber of excellence to her coverage of our 175th anniversary, and we are so thankful the Lord has placed her with us. Carrie is truly a gift from Him.” (TAB)
