Is Alabama where you call home? Us too. And we would love to visit over coffee and talk about things.

That’s why we have been around for more than 175 years — to engage in the conversation about the things that are important to us, the stories that are happening in our neighborhoods, churches, communities and conventions and in our nation and around the world.

We would love for you to be a part.

It is a conversation that has been going on since 1843, when Baptists in Alabama first decided they needed a way to keep in touch with each other and stay informed on what Baptists were doing at home and across the globe. Today The Alabama Baptist is still doing that, but with the added priority of providing practical help for readers to better live out their faith in the current cultural landscape.

Our readers come from every walk of life. And we want to walk through life with them.

The content is chosen with our readers’ Christian walk in mind, as well as resources for living out that walk in their personal, professional and church life. The paper also provides concise and balanced reporting of events from the world of religion, and moral and ethical issues are examined from a biblical standpoint.

The Alabama Baptist is an entity of the Alabama Baptist State Convention and is mailed into more than 40,000 homes, with a total readership of about 100,000. More than 5,000 subscribers receive the PDF edition every other week, and many more engage the conversation on social media.

Our Mission

The Alabama Baptist has its readers’ Christian walk in mind, seeking to empower them to live out discipleship in their personal, professional and church life.

It aims to equip them with resources and information — and to do that with competence, compassion, fairness and dependability as a news source.

We are here for you.
